Faculty Position at Tongji University, Shanghai, China
 

The Institute for Biomedical Engineering and Nano Science (iNANO), Tongji University School of Medicine, Tongji University, Shanghai, China, is seeking exceptionally well qualified candidates for faculty positions at all levels (assistant, associate, and full professors), who are committed to leading interdisciplinary world-class research. The individual filling this position is expected to develop internationally recognized research programs in all fields of biomedical engineering and nano science, such as biomaterials, tissue engineering, bioinformatics, biomechanics, neuroengineering, and regenerative medicine. The research fields also include nanomaterials, biotechnology, nano-medical diagnosis and cancer-therapy, energy technologies, and nano-sensors,. Research responsibilities include developing internationally recognized research programs that are sustained by competitive national funding such as NSFC, supporting a group of research staff and students as a principal investigator (PI), publishing in top journals with high impact, and providing academic services to the international research community, as well as to iNANO of Tongji. Candidates with a track record of extramurally funded research will be given a favorable consideration. The successful candidate is expected to establish a solid publication record, secure competitive grants, and lead interdisciplinary teams. He/she will also be expected to recruit and advise undergraduate and graduate students, fulfill committee assignments, supporting the mission of the institute, college, and university, and provide leadership to the profession through national and international society participation.

Qualifications:
1. Candidates must have a Ph. D. in materials science, biology, medicine, chemistry, biomedical engineering, and closely related fields.
2. Candidates with M.D. are also encouraged to apply who conduct research in basic medical sciences that are related to the above areas.
3. They must be able to work effectively in a team environment, must have excellent oral and written English communication skills, bust comply with all federal regulations and high academic ethical standards in the conduct of research, and must be able to lead and publish high quality research.
4. Preference will be given to candidates with a strong record of teaching, publishing peer-reviewed journal articles, and leadership experiences.
5. For appointment to associate professor rank, in addition to the above, candidates must have at least three years of teaching and research experience at a leading research university, demonstrated evidence of attracting extramural/grant funding for a nationally/internationally recognized program, solid record of refereed publications, and experience training Master's and Ph.D. degree students .
